Messenger file transfer

I know this probably isn't the correct place for this but I thought
some knowledgable MVP might have an answer or solution.
Recently my msn messenger has started blocking certain file transfers
from my contacts. It gives a message that they are blocked to prevent
harmful files from comming to my computer. There is no option to
accept the file provided. This is happening when using the "send file
or photo" icon on top of the message box not the file transfer window.
When I googled this it says you can rename the file then name it back,
or download a "mess patch". Is there no other way around this? Any
help appreciated. TIA

There is no way that i know of to get around this. Messenger blocks .js .vb
..vbs .exe .sys and more.

So looks like MS in all it's wisdom is now going to control what we
can and cannot move around whether we like it or not...sheesh.

You may want to try a Third Party Messenger client.
