Messenger Does not Connect on our Network

I'm in Iraq and the network we have here does not allow Messenger to connect. The network does have a hardware firewall. I can probably get the they guys who run the network open the ports it needs if I knew the ports. I don't think if uses a proxy but I'm not sure, and they don't know either. But I would like to what ports messenger may be using to I can get them opened. I know other units in this theater are using messenger. So I am lead to belive it is our firewall. I do not use a personal firewall on my computer.

The only ports necessary for Messenger to connect (for basic functionality) are ports 1863 or
80 and 443, all TCP, all outgoing.

Another solution (or a workaround until you get Messenger resolved) to sign in would be to
use one of the various web-clients to access Messenger, like:
