Messenger Audio codecs?

Andy

Is it possible that a set of rogue audio codecs could cause messenger voice
chat and netmeeting to crash as soon as a connection is established?
I have a strange problem on one of my pc's behind a router (other pcs on
same router are all ok) whereby messenger will lock up and require and end
task the second an audio connection is established - please note that video,
file transfer and remote connections are all fine.

I'm having a very hard time debugging this error so any help would be
appreciated.

Andy.

short of reinstalling all of the audio codecs and I still cant get voice to
not crash messenger. Any help would be appreciated before I get thoroughly

In case anybody is interested I have managed to resolve this issue. It
appears to have been caused by some old logitech quickcam drivers I believe.
The steps I took to eventually fix the problem were to completely uninstall
all logitech software and drivers, uninstall msn messenger and windows
messenger, remove the msnmessenger registry keys, reboot, reinstall latest
clean set of logitech quickcam drivers, reinstall windows messenger and run
audio tuning wizard - at this point check audio worked, if it does proceed
to install msn messenger 6.1 and all should be well.
