Messenger 8.1 - how does someone know I blocked them?

Hi -
I blocked someone temporarily assuming it was a confidential action. But
they asked me why I blocked them. How would they know I blocked them?

If you have friends that person has too (the same friends), that person
might have asked them if you were still on. Then they would tell that person
that you are on for them, so you must have blocked that person.
