Reinstalled Windows Messenger and now whenever I turn on the computer
Messenger loads on to my screen and freezes. I can not minimize it or
anything. I get the hour glass whenever I scroll over it . The only way to
remove it is control, alt, delet. The older version I had worked perfectly.
I am using Windows xp home edition. Any suggestions?? Thanks in
advance gjcrouge

Hey,

You started to have this problem after reinstalling Windows Messenger,
right?

Please try this. After WinXP boots up, end task MSN Messenger (i assume that
MSN Messenger 6.2 is crashing, right?). Once you have done that, please
enter Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > click on MSN Messenger 6.2 and
click Change. Do a repair of MSN Messenger 6.2

Then , please restart the PC and see if this fixes the problem.

Hope this helps.

You might want to delete the MSN Messenger's preference and settings file
and see if this fixes the problem. To do this,

Navigate to:
C:\Document and settings\{userprofile}\Application Data\Microsoft

Delete the MSN Messenger folder.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply to my messenger problem. I have been out of town and
finally had a chance to look at my post. I did try your fix and that did not
work. I removed the program and reinstalled it. Same problem. Locks up on
start up and freezes on my screen. Any other suggestions.

Please try checking the Event Viewer (Control Panel > Adminstration Tools)
and post here whatver error that it has under Applications / System (errors
which is related to Messenger)

Thanks Jabez for the post. I must be a little confused as I cannot find
Application/Systems (errors) in my control panel. I found Computer
Management which showed some programs disabled. Is this what you were
talking about. Again I am runnings xp home. Would it be called something
other than Applications?
