Messenger 5.1--Internal Users Only???

M

Mark McWilliams

We have users at our branch locations that I would like to be able to IM to
without having to place a phone call to communicate with them. Is their
anyway to setup Windows Messenger 5.1 for internal use only? I don't want
this program to be able to communicate to the outside world. Could we use
the Windows Messenger 5.1 Group Policy ADM File within our Windows 2003
Server environment to limit Messenger to internal IP addresses only? I
would like to be able to have my users setup internal buddy lists and have
them show whether they are logged on or not.

Thanks,

Mark

Greetings Mark,

You can limit Windows Messenger to using a Exchange IM Server or Live Communications Server,
but you cannot just restrict to specific IPs (without one of the previous servers I just
mentioned, or the public .NET Messenger network, Windows Messenger would have no way to
communicate).
