messed up page file entry

While trying to help a friend, I somehow partitioned my
own hard drive. All files still there, but when Windows
2000 Professional gets past "password" entry, get error
stating pagefile too small. I know I could copy all files
to other partition and delete the new partition, but I
have to get at least to the desktop in safe mode. How can
I force it, or can I do it from some other method?? Help,
I am getting desperate. "Page file" is locked, have to
open that operating system to change anything. Thanks to
anybody who has any suggestions.
