messanger wont work

Hi, im wondering if anyone can help me figure out why my messenger wont come
up. I click on it and all it does is gives me the little egg timer and then
does nothing. Also when i try to do a remote assistance from the start menu
it come up with the message to get administrators permission to use windows
mess, but there is no other users on my comp.
