Messanger uninstall impossible.

V

Verde

I installed the last version of the MSN messanger. I
thought that the new version would uninstall the older
one, which was in my laptop. Unfortunatelly, that didn't
happen and now I have 2 different versions of Messanger
in my computer. I went to the "add/remove programs"
window in order to uninstall the old version, but it
wasn't there. Moreover, I couldn't find an uninstall
icon in the folder of this messanger.
Thus, I would appreciate if you could indicate me any
secure way to completely remove the old version apart
from delete it.

Greetings Verde,

You can completely remove Windows Messenger (4.7) but if you do, you will be preventing
Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, and Application Sharing from working.

However, assuming you don't use this functionality, you can simply remove it by closing down
Messenger if it's running (right click the messenger icon in the notification area/system
tray and click close). Then click the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste
if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,
