"Messaging interface has returned an unknown error"

Seeing lots of posts reporting the same trouble - It's clear to me this is
related to installing the "2007 compatibility" (sic) patch. How do we get
Microsoft to respond with a solution?

I sent a Word 2007 doc to my client - he uses office 2000 and 2003. I
helped him over the phone download and install the"compatibility" patch so he
could read my document. Minutes later he calls back, he's suddenly unable to
send email from Outlook (2003), getting "Messaging interface has returned an
unknown error". what a mess.

I've suggested to save time he just re-install Outlook. Any other
suggestions out there?

I'm not sure this really addresses the problem I've described. but I've
passed it on to my client and will advise if it works

Sounds to be exactly what you described to me; it happens during a send
operation and even the error message is the same. Why do you think it
doesn't apply then?

Robert - the link you sent me to is as follows:

"Interface Not Registered
When using Word as your e-mail editor you might encounter the error
“Interface Not Registered†when trying to send your e-mail. As a result you
are unable to send it but you are able to send e-mail when setting Outlook as
your e-mail editor. To solve this so you are able to use Word as your e-mail
editor close all
"
Not at all what I was researching. Thanks anyway.
