messages left on pop3 server until I delete

It seems that the messages are left on the server.. and are not deleted, even
after I delete them from my deleted folder.

What else must I do to have them delete on the server when I delete them.

In whatever mail program you use, look for an option to leave messages on
your mail server. When you find that option, uncheck it and, when your
messages are downloaded onto your computer, they will be deleted from your
mail server.

Enable the option to delete them when you empty the Deleted Items folder.
It should be right below the option you checked to leave them on the server.
