message: "Too many different Cell Formats" how do I fix?

Eric

The answer as to how to fix it has not been given, only away to avoid it in
the future. I have had much larger spread sheets than the one in question
with the same formatting and never had this pop up. So there must be one or
more cells that are causing the problem. How do I find these over loaded
cells and fix their formatting problem.

The answer was given, it's a buggy Excel implementation that stores many
duplicate style instances. Contrary to what you assert, this may happen to a
rather benign spreadsheet where there has been a lot of formatting back and
forth over time. And it can never happen to large spreadsheets.

Those style instances are not exposed in Excel user interface, and not in
the object model either. That is why the user is not in control, and an
external tool has to be used to get the user back in control.
