I am tired of telling this message "NO". I don't want this window to show up
to ask me if I want to compress my emails every time I close Windows Mail. I
can't find anywhere where to tell this window not to show up. Am I missing
something simple?
Does anyone out there know how to get rid of this message?

I guess I meant "compact email store", or something to that effect...either
way, how do I get rid of this message window from popping up everytime I
close Windows Mail?

Thanks,
mm

OK, never mind, I found the answer elsewhere here.

Thanks to those that informed me (via the other's questions) that I needed
to go to

Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance
and uncheck the box which says "Compact the database on shutdown every..."

You realize that now you must remember to compact the database manually
every so often.

Actually, after reading all the info in the other section here where the
question was answered to death, I decided to turn it back on and actually run
it, and I didn't have a problem.

Thanks to people like you who know your stuff, now I know what to do with
this. I am actually a fairly knowledgeable person when it comes to
computers, but I had no knowledge about this issue.

Thanks again.

You made a wise decision. Allowing automatic compaction on a
periodic basis keeps the database trim and neat, and prevents
future slowdowns.

It is VERY good practice to frequently compress the Windows Mail DATABASE (this
does not compress the messages) to help prevent database corruption. However,
you can adjust the frequency you are asked to do this via Menu (Alt key if not
visible) > Tools > Options... > Advanced tab > Maintenance button > "Compact the
database..." spinner.

I have mine set to do it EVERY time I close Windows Mail, and I have had ZERO
problems. And it only takes a few seconds.

Tell it to go ahead and compress and the message should go away for a
number of times - usually 100 - that you close Windows Mail. It only
removes references to deleted mail.
