Message that can't be deleted form the Outbox folder

One week ageo, I tried to send a message with a (too
long) attachment (9MB). The message is still in my Outbox
folder and there is no way to delete it. I tried the
usual procedures: highlit the message and press delete;
highilet/File/Delete; send it to the Deleted folder...
but is still there. When I try to open it, I get this
message: "Can't open this item. Outlook already started
transmitting this message".
Is there any way to delete that message for good?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
