Recovery tools and some software does not recognize this
computer. I get messages like "This version of PC-doctor is
not licensed for this machine." When I tried to use the
recovery tools cd I got the same "not licensed for this
machine" I have an HP media center and everything works
fine as far as cd and dvd burner. The machine is two months
old.
I have recently run ad-aware and it deleted 63 files was
one of them some sort of code?

That's a typical message when you're trying to install proprietary OEM
software on a computer that it doesn't belong to. Unfortunately, some of
that software is ridiculously picky about determining that it's the same
computer.

Have you changed any hardware, updated the bios, etc? Added anything, like
an extra drive, more ram, etc.? If so, change it back to the original and
see if the software starts working.

On the other hand, if the computer is only 2 months old, it should still be
under warranty and if this is the software that came with it, HP should also
support their software. Of course, "should" and "will" are two different
things.

It is OEM software and it is the right machine.I haven't
changed anything but have added a few programs. Hp is
sending me a new set of recovery disks, but my machine
doesn't recognize the set I have. I have the whole thing
backed up with drive image so I could go back to a version
that works. But I was just wondering if there was anything
else I could do.
