mesenger has strange icon on taskbar

hello,
i am having a problem specificaly with live messenger,

when i installed it, it put 2 icons on the taskbar, one icon of the little man-thingy, and one icon of a dark blackish square..

the dark blackish square says it is not signed on (when highlighted)..

but actually when i double click on it, it acts like the little main icon, and opens up the messenger window...??


this is very annoying as today there were two blackish squares both saying not signed on but they are/do belong to the main icon and act that way when clicked on..

help
