Merge with word doc

Long time Word user, never Access. BEFORE I BUY...Question

I have old integrated 16 bit Winworks prog have used for years. It allows
SIMPLE merge of data fields into word process document...

I have a continuing ed company and keep students in the database, then
"create" a diploma for students. I can specify by record# which records to
merge into document and print...works well.

But must leave the stone age of win3x therefore this 16bit prog won't work
on Win xp pro...before I buy Access, will it work seamlessly?

I don't see anywhere in Word the option to pick which database I want to
merge with in access, so I am hesitant to buy Access.

You can launch the merge from word, or from ms-access.

I have a nice working solution that integrates ms-access + word.
