Merge - need to create two documents from one data set

I have two separate merge documents created. One is a letter and one
is a list of all recipients of the letter. After the letter is
printed and sent the author wants a list of the recipients for future
follow up.

Is there a way to combine these two different documents so that I can
do one merge and print, since they are both using the same list of
names and addresses? The attempts I have made end up giving me the
letters correctly but the list will not print all the addressees on
one page - it's puts each addressee on a separate sheet.

You're almost there. :)

You do need to use two separate main documents for your merge but the same
data source can be used for both. It sounds like your first, the letter, is
working correctly. For your second merge, use a Directory as your main
documents instead of Letters. A Directory will merge the records
consecutively instead of placing each record on a separate page.
