Merge issue

I have a doc. ready as well as the data source list. I try to "Merge
Documents...", select the data source doc., and it shows, "The merged
documents contain unmarked changes. Do you want to merge up to the first
unmarked change?". I respond yes, and nothing happens. If I select "Mail
Merge" it whows the 3 steps to merging a document, however it does not allow
me to select "merge" on step 3. So what do I need to do for this? I know how
to do this, however I can not remember how?

Use Mailmerge and follow the steps, not Merge Documents.

1. Select the type of mail merge that you want to create (probably
formletters)
2. Open the data source
3. Insert the mergefields into the mailmerge main document (the document
created by step 1)
4. Execute the merge.

You have probably omitted either the second and/or the third of the above.

I copied the original doc to a new file to start from the beginning. Selected
formletters. When I opened the data source it says to "edit main doc. button
to insert merge fields into main doc." Even when I press the button I get no
results.

That button takes you back to the main document and then you use the Insert
Merge Field pulldown to select and insert the mergefields where you want
them.

Thank you soooo much, your assisting is greatly appreciated. You've saved my
work day! I was missing the buttons on the top of the toolbar to insert the
fields. I hope that you have a very merry Christmas & Happy New year!
