merge distribution lists

Our Company Contact List has over 1200 entries. I would like to merge 2
distribution lists (both conatining approx. 500 contacts) into a new
distribution list, but then go back through a remove a few contacts here and
there from the new merged DL. Can this be done? Why can't we create a new DL
and simply drag and drop (copy) contacts from one DL to another?

Very few people would use DL's like this. They are far too unreliable, have
no features (like the ones for which you are asking) and are impossible to
maintain. Moreover, most mail servers won't even permit a message to be sent
to that many recipients. It is far more reliable to use Categories or
separate Contacts subfolders to group Contacts into groups of this size. --

We did toss the idea around for using the category grouping and will
probably try that. However the concern became 'can we use more than one
category to describe a single contact?'

Of course. That's what makes them more versatile than DL's.
