My father's XP system has corrupted menu titles. For
example, in IE, choosing Tools shows

Mail and
Synchroni
<blank>

How did this happen (virus?) and how does he solve it?
Similar problems appear in MS Word.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Are you saying that Windows Update is missing? If so, has a policy been
enabled to remove it?

The problem isn't that Windows Update is missing, it is
that the titles in the menu are truncated/missing. In the
above example, if he clicks on the <blank>, IE goes to the
Windows Update page. In Word, for example, clicking on
File brings the dropdown menu but File... is Fil, Save is
Sav, and so on.
Thanks,
Paul

Kelly, he didn't say anything about windows update. Did you reply to
the wrong message?
