menu; insert - database item is not selectable

I was using Frontpage xp and didn't have this issue but I' have installed
frontpage 2003 and when i go to the menu under insert the database item is
not a selectable item...
why?
what can i do to fix this... with out going back to frontpage xp

Are you in a Server based web (not a disc based web) on a Windows Server
- have you enabled the FP SE in Tools Page Options Authoring

Im not sure what you mean"Server based web (not a disc based web) on a
Windows Server"

My issue now is that now when I try to use the existing database I'll add it
By "Tools menu, click Site Settings. On the Database tab, click Add. "
but when I go to the Database Interface Wizard the existing one doesn't show
up.
And when i try to create a new database it disappearsto and if i use the
"Northwind" i get a failer to connect message.
I would rather use the existing database.
help please

How are you opening your local web site? If http://localhost/yourweb it's a
server based web, if c:\my documents\my webs it's a disk-based web.

i'm opening it as a disk base, i wasn't aware frontpage was capable of
opening it the other way

The DB features are not supported in disc based webs
