Perhaps I was unclear - sorry - I'm trying to get my Start-programs-"menu"
to fly-out or cascade out as it used to. Now everything is listed in one
long column that I have to scroll through.
 
Try the "classic" style in start properties.
Also you should keep posts in the same thread that you
started earlier.

Right-click the START button|CUSTOMIZE|ADVANCED tab
UNcheck "scroll programs"
