Hi,

I have managed to successfully burn the iso image for memtest so that it
boots first, however, it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

It starts up in the black and white dos screen and searches for USB HDD
devices 2/3 times and then it stops with:

[DR-DOS] A:\> with a flashing white box at the end.

Does this mean that the program is running, or is there something wrong? I
thought it may be the memtest software, but tried the same with MS's windiag,
but it has the same problem.

Will try any suggestions to get this working!

Cheers,

If the CD does not have a file named 'Autorun.inf' on it then you need to
enter the name of the executable file at the command prompt.

First of all, I hope you are using Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org and
not an older version. Secondly, if you have downloaded the correct .iso
and burned it as an image file, it should start and run the program
automatically. There is nothing you need to do. I'm not sure why it
would be searching for USB hard drives. I've never seen Memtest do this
before. Since Windiag does the same thing, it must be the way you've
got your system set up. I don't know why a memory tester would care
about your hard drives anyway. You can use Memtest without any hard
drives installed.

Perhaps taking the machine to a professional computer repair shop would
be a better idea for you.
