Craig Pfaff

Hi,
I posted this before and I was getting some help on it, if anyone can give
any more
insite on it I would appreciate it.

I have 3 w/s that use FrontPage to update our website that is hosted by an
external ISP. We're all using Frontpage 2002 on XP pro and W2K Pro w/s.
After we open up FrontPage and attempt to open up the Web Page folder (we
all access the same folder located on a server)
all 3 of us receive the same error message saying;

An unexpected error occurred: Not enought memory available to complete the
operation. Close other programs to make more memory avaible, and try again.
We just click ok and everything appears to be ok.
All 3 of us have more than enough memory and this happens when we have no
other programs running.

Any thoughts as to why this is doing this?

Thanks Craig

The most common reason for this error is a corrupted web cache file.
However the same error relating to the same website on three different
work stations is very uncommon.

To fix the corrupted cache file:
With FrontPage closed, in Windows Explorer find and delete all *.web
files associated with FrontPage. These hidden, system files are
normally located in
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
on each work station.
FrontPage will recreate the files as and when required.

On each machine:

Close FrontPage
Copy and paste this into Start > Run or the IE address bar and click Go or Ok as
Appropriate:

%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\FrontPageTempDir

When the folder opens, delete any and all files / and folders it may contain.

then do the same for:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

and then do the same for:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State

Yep, I said delete *ALL* files and sub folders you find in any of those folders.
However the last two "should" only contain files.
Then restart FrontPage and it will create new files as it needs them.

If that doesn't fix it the next question would be: Is this happening at the folder level,
or when trying to open a page for editing.
If a page is it always the same page??
If so, use the browser in ftp mode and browse to the file and click and drag it to a
desktop and then open it in Notepad and check for scripting errors.

If none of the above, you either have a server issue, or you have somehow corrupted the
paging file ( pagefile.sys )
on each machine.

A corrupt pagefile can cause an "out of memory error"

To eliminate the possibility of a corrupt paging file follow the procedures here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314834

After the entry is made you will have to restart the machine ***TWICE*** to clear the
file.
The first time sets the registry change the next shut down / restart clears the file.

Hi Craig,

Besides other's suggestions, this issue may occur due to a bad installation of FrontPage 2002. This may occur when the same antivirus
application is running on all clients.

If possible, you can try the following steps on one client to reinstall FrontPage 2002 and then check the results.

1. Uninstall any Anti-Virus software installed
2. Clean boot the Operating System
3. Uninstall FrontPage or Office
4. Reboot to a clean boot
5. Rename all instances of the cmdui.prf file
6. Rename all instances of the \FrontPage folder
7. Rename all instances of the \FrontPageTempDir folder
8. Reboot to a clean boot
9. Delete the FrontPage Registry Key
1) HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FrontPage
2) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage
10. Reboot to a clean boot
11. Install FrontPage 2002 again.

I hope the information helps.
