memory?

I recently bought a new computer.....big enough to handle most everything. I
am running XP. Everything seems to be working and very speedy. Although I
recently opened the sound recorder to record something for the first time on
this computer, and when I start to record, I get a message saying "not
enough memory, close some applications and try again". I have done so and
according to the task manager, I have tons of memory. Can someone tell me
what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance,
hb

What program?
You might try Audacity. I like it very much.

As I said in my post , "sound recorder".
sound recorder could be any generic program.

Windows XP's Sound Recorder would be more specific.

Don't get touchy, we're not in your house looking over your shoulder, we
can't tell a thing other than what you say.

If you do in fact have lots of physical RAM available and if other
memory intensive programs do not give you this error message then I
would suggest that this is a Virtual Memory fragmentation issue. There
isn't much of anything that you can do about this, it's a programming
problem, I would suggest that you contact the application vendor or that
you try a different program.

PS: You might also get similar error messages if you are running low on
disk space or if you are tying to copy a file larger than 4GB on a FAT32
drive.

Right; ignore the problem and look for a
workaround. That's definitly the right thing to
do. May all your problems solved that way work
forever for you.

Boy, get out of the wrong side of the bed.

It was meant as a diagnostic tool.
