Memory Woes with A78NX-DX

O

Oldnbitter

I seem to have memory incompatible with this motherboard, I didn't look at
the list of approved memory and just went for the newest fastest most
expensive they had thinking at the worst it would scale itself back and be
OK. Very Wrong. Got 2 X 512Mb Kingston KHX 3500 Hyper X and it will not run
at 200 Dual Channel, spent 5 days reloading windows and changing some of the
more basic settings (not an advanced tweaker) and had crash after crash
until I had a tech trace down the memory as the source. Have it scaled back
to 85% and it runs stable at 166 dual channel.
Is this cause it is double sided ram? Sticks should only be 256Mb or
3200? Are there Cas settings that will work? Could there be a future bos
that will resolve this? Should I wait for a newer Motherboard and migrate
over? I appreciate any help as I have lurked here long and learned a fair
bit that led me to settle on this mobo. Am constantly amazed by the wealth
of knowledge in the members here. (oops kissing up for responses there)
Sorry for the long post and thank you for your indulgence.

Pretty nice rig you have. But, about the RAM...
Forget the Kingston and buy some Corsair. I have a matched pair (2x256mb)
running in dual mode. Works great. You can prolly sell your Kingston RAM
on ebay.
