Memory resource low

M

Mark M S

I am using Windows XP SP2 and suddenly started to get error messages that
the memory was low forcing a reboot. I also have Symantec antivirus enable,
Spyware enable and Diskeeper to defragment with any recent additions. These
are the latest versions and my computer has 1 gig RAM and virtual memory
default.

Are there any tools to track down what is grabbing up the memory? I need to
reboot daily to keep my programs running.

What do you run on the system? well the easiest way is to simply ctrl
alt del and you can see exactly what processes are running and how much
memory they are consuming, if you see something taking up a lot of
memory, even when system is idle then enter the process anme (blah.exe)
into google and see what it is and how to remove it.

Flamer.

Perhaps the default setting (1.5 GB perhaps) isn't enough. The error
message usually means that the pagefile is too small.
I let the system manage the pagefile size.
The previous poster told how to find which programs are needing the most
memory.
