Memory problems

I installed 1.5 Gig on my machine with no apparent
problems. After running just fine for a while when
I tried to launch FS9 I would get an error msg saying
that I did not have enough memory for it to launch.
I could reboot and it would launch ok. I was advised
to remove 500 MB as "XP won't handle over a Gig".
I tried it and it worked but the MOBO is supposed
to support 3 Gig and XP is supposed to support 4.
Anybody got a clue?
 
Can u mention what is FS9.

XP Supports upto 3 GB but you will have to make changes in the boot.ini file.
Contact the hardware dealer for expertise to fix your computer with excess of 1 GB RAM.
