Memory Issues

J

Jerry Camel

I just upgraded my machine from 1GB (2 x 512) to 4GB (2 x 2GB). The BIOS
shows 4GB of RAM, but Windows is showing 3.5GB of RAM. Anyone seen this
before? Why would Windows report the RAM that way? Thanks.

(Windows XP Pro)

Thanks,

Jerry

You could be running a video card that is using "shared" system RAM memory.
Is the video card based on the motherboard or did you need to add one onto a
motherboard AGP/PCI slot?

Depending upon hardware design, the system will absorb some memory for its
exclusive use..
