Memory errors with XP

I'm getting "out of memory" errors when trying to save
documents that I'm editing, despite the fact that there's
plenty of space left on my hard drive.

Is there a maximum amount of space that XP allocates per
folder? Or specifically for the "My Documents" folder?

Thanks!

How much memory do you have installed? hint: it has nothing to do with the
size of your hard drive.

Out of Memory does indicate a problem with the space on the hard drive(s).
This is telling that the PC's RAM has no more space in order to process the
request.

How much RAM does your PC have?

Close any/all un-used application before editing your document.

No, you're confusing two different things. The term "memory" is
not used to refer to the space on your hard drive; it refers to
RAM, which you have much less of.

How much RAM do you have? The number is probably something like
128MB, 256MB, 512MB, etc.

Also what are your page file settings? Right-click on My
Computer, choose Properties, then Advanced, Performance |
Settings | Advanced | Virtual Memory.

OOPS! That should day "does not indicate" instead of "does indicate"
