Memory error on compaq 1400 after installing XP

Hi

I have a Compaq Presario 14XL455 with 128 MB. I recently
installed Windows XP Professional on it and now the system
is informing that I have only 64MB
I downloaded a software called Compaq Diagnostics for
Windows that is supposed to correct this problem
(Corrected problem where the System has 128MB of RAM but
diagnostics only shows 64 MB of RAM on some systems), but
it did not correct
Does anyone knows how I can solve this problem
