memory capped?

I have 1 gig of memory installed, but usage seems to be
capped at 350 meg. Task Manager shows a straight line at
350, with virtual memory chattering away. How did this
happen? It's been fine for years, and I haven't made aby
changes.

If it were my computer, the two chips I presume you have would be
removed and re-installed again, possibly with the positions reversed,
like the first chip goes in the second slot. Sometimes the sockets
after a time get a bit coroded even if they are gold plated.
