Memo Field - truncating data

Having problem storing data in a memo field. Several symptoms: 1. On
importing a table to a new database from another database, the table data
imports successfully, but all data in a memo field does not display. In a
tabular view of the table, the memo field displays only approximately the
first 40 characters. This appears to correspond to a CR/LF new line
character in the data. 2. On checking the data in the original table, the
same limited number of characters display, but in a form all memo data
displays. Is data in a memo field stored in different places in a database
file? How do I import ALL data from a table that includes memo fields? How
does one view ALL data in a memo field? Thx.

If you are viewing a datasheet view, you can set the row height to display
2nd and 3rd lines of your field values. Most viewing and editing should be
done within forms.

Duane,
Thanks for the valuable tip. Expanding the row height helped some, but still
cannot see the complete record in a datasheet view. The data is visible in a
form tho. And we do any editing in the form, if needed. But the field is
largely for reference only. Still puzzled by why only some of the data
displays on the datasheet. Manually counting the datasheet view memo data in
some records results in 300+ characters, but there definitely is more in the
form view.

The 300+ characters might include spaces. Are you suggesting that if you
make the row height 3" tall, you still don't see all the characters?

True, the 300+ chars include many spaces. Making the row quite large
vertically, such as 3", still does not show all data. Is there another
location within the Access DB where memo data is stored? Or should all memo
data be visible even in a datasheet view?

It should all be available for viewing in the datasheet view of your table.
It may not show in some queries or if you have set a format property on the
field/column.
