Meeting Notice does not have ability to accept...

Donald Dreksler

Having an issue receiving Outlook Meeting notices from one of our clients.
They are using Outlook 2003, we are using both Outlook 2003 and 2007. We
receive e-mails from the client encrypted using out Digital ID's. When
meeting notices are received, they show up as plain text, without the ability
to accept the meeting and add them into out calendars.

The notes arrive without issue, we just can note do anything with them.
Anyone have any ideas how to proceed?

It sounds like the TNEF encoding is getting removed somewhere between when
they send and you receive. Are you using Exchange server? Is the sender?

Wild guess: the AV software on the recipient's server is removing it. The
sender's server could be sending all internet mail as plain text, but that's
not the default setting.

Thanks for the suggestion, all of us that are having the issue are using
Norton, any idea where to start to see about having this allow the calendar
data through?

OK, have done that with no success.

We did try something else though. We send meeting notices to alternate
e-mail addresses, and they came through correct. Our work e-mail is a cpanel
server that seems to have a great deal of spam detection software in place.
Is it possible that this email server is somehow striping the meeting
automation off these notices?

One other small wrinkle, we use digital ID with this client, to the mail we
receive from them arrives encrypted.

We are able to send and receive to each other encrypted, it only seems to be
with this client that we have an issue receiving meeting notices.

Yes, the mail server could be removing the tnef data from the message. I
haven't used cpanel in many, many years - but check its options to see if
you can set it to not remove the data - many servers refer to it as Outlook
/Exchange encoding.
