Mediatickets CDT (Spyware)

Bruin

Sorry if this question has been already been asked & answered. Outlook as
a newsreader has no search function that I can see & MS's newsgroup access
via IE search function is disabled.

One of the machines in my household has an infection called Mediatickets CDT
(Spyware) that keeps re-installing itself. If I leave it, the machine will
get some pop-up ads, not alot, but any pop-up ads is bad. It is quite
subtle how these pop-ups work as many would not notice them as being out of
the ordinary.

Some forums out in the wild are calling this a false positive but if I use
IE (opposed to Firefox), pop-ups appear & letting MS Anti-spyware remove it
appears to stop the pop-ups so I am inclined to call this a real infection.

I scan & remove it in safemode & have done it over 20 times in the last few
months.
Anyone got any ideas?

Here is a link to removal instructions:
http://www.scanspyware.net/info/MediaTickets.htm

Restart in safe mode, press F8 during reboot/restart.

Choose fullscan with all options checked within MSAS.

It is also a good idea to first remove all temporarily junk with
this tool, www.ccleaner.com and also scan with Lavasofts Adaware
