Media Player

I'm having with Media Player on my Win2000 machine (sp3). It seems
now that whatever format I try to play (.avi, .wmv, .mpg, etc.) my
machine locks up almost immediately. I have to use the reset button
to reboot.

I've reinstalled Media Player 9 and have installed DirectX 9, but that
doesn't seem to help. Anyone have any thoughts about what might be
wrong?

.Not that I a policing so to speak but, I ran a cracked

copy so to and have had the same problem.

Note: I will assure u that I run totally legit systems on
my networks. But I have experimented these ILLEGAL copies

I can assure you this is a legit copy of Win2000. Anyone else have
any thoughts on what I might try?
