Media Player opens MP3's slowly

Just recently, when I open MP3's in Media Player, it takes
10-15 seconds to open. Before, the files opened within a
second or two. I have XP home, 512 MB Ram, P-4, 2.4 gig
chip. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
