Media Player and the Internet

When my son connects to a website where there are videos to watch (e.g.
demos of Wii !!) Media Player no longer plays the video (any video). It
used to work and I don't know what has been changed. Same behavior with
Media player 10 and 11 and Firefox and IE. Media player works alright
when used on its own, i.e. it plays files on the HD.

Computer is a Dell inspiron 6400 XP SP2.

Any idea?

Do you have a firewall that is maybe blocking it from accessing the
internet?

He has the XP firewall installed. I don't think it would block a MS
product!!

I just found out that my son had been fiddling (for lack of a better
word) with Java. Could this be the source of the problem?
If so, what can I do to fix it?
