media player and all kinds of crashes from it!!!

Installed windows media player 9 and now I CAN no longer burn cd's even using roxio easy cd dreator 5 my old burn program and as of to day now the infenal machine tells me I don't have a scanner with the same error message as with the player and these wierd windows keep popping up . every time I try to burn it goes along like it's working and then before closing the disk it tells me it can't write to it.. I tried other disks and tried using the old program easycd but now that one is screwd too. I checked the cd burner it'sself it's fine not broken so what's goin on??? HELP HELP feel free to resond directly to (e-mail address removed)... thanks help.....
