Media Player 9 Not searching

Edward Parkhouse

I have Windows Media player 9 installed, however, I am
unable to locate any of my playlists, and the search for
media files shows no progress, the media library is also
blank. The pull down list ont eh top right only shows
two 'now playing' even though all the options are ticked.

Only thing in knollege base is for media player 7,andsays
to untick removable disks in the control panel>system.
Which is not an option in XP pro.

OK found this on another news group, seems to ahve worked:
Basically you have to renew your database of music
The CurrentDatabase_59R is found at C:\Documents and
Settings\<userprofile>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Media Player. My file was only 40 Kb or
something and I KNOW i had way more songs in my database.
But I figured what the heck I'll just delete it search for
my songs again. I deleted this file and not only did my
WMP Media Library start working, but the contents of the
library we intact I looked again and the file was restored
and is now 6MB. Unbelievable.
