I have XP Professional with MP10. When ever I try to download or watch a
movie trailer no more than 30 seconds it doesn't play smoothly.
The sound is there. The bar across the bottom moves smoothly but the
picture freezes or staggers as the short movie plays.
Am I missing something in my setting? I have all the extensions on...MPEG,
WMV etc.
Even if I save it before I watch it, it doesn't play back when I'm not on
line.
Any help on this?
Thanks
Gary

Seems like there's a lot of traffic on your connection. If you can grab the
file from your Temporary Internet Files folder and copy and paste it into
(say) My Documents, My Videos, I presume it then plays OK?

It could be a number of issues.
The obvious may not be the cause - buffering, cache needs emptying etc
As you've downloaded the clip and still problematic,
and as it's a "movie trailer" it could be it just wasn't
a good upload from source? Has anyone else had
problems with such clips on their PC's?
It could be a codec issue? Exactly what file type is it?
This link is to a freeware tool download that is excellent
at identifying what compression technique is used.
Once you know, a quick online search and download of
required codec may solve the problem.

Alternatively, the site you downloaded the trailer from
may have guidence on how to play their clips?
