Media Center Receiver Service

I have a Dell XPS 410 with Core 2 Duo 3 gighz.

The OS is XP Media Center.

If I leave the Media Center Receiver service running (ehrecvr.exe) it uses
50% of the performance clocks constantly, even though I am not using the
card for media aquisition at all.

I have had to disable this entirely.

Is there an explanation for this extremely poor performance...other than
terrible design of software?

better chance of getting the attention of Media Center experts if you
post in the Media Center newsgroup:
