I have a client with a Sony Vaio with Windows XP Media
Center Edition. It will need to authenticate to a Windows
domain server. If I upgrade to Windows XP Pro, will the
PC lose any of the Media Center features? If so, is there
anything I can do to retain or reconfigure them?

This group does not deal with MCE - there are a number of groups dedicated
to it - it would be better to post there. However, I am a member of the
beta test team so I will attempt to assist you. I'm not sure what you mean
by "upgrade to XP Pro" as the MCE *IS* Pro - with the MCE extensions and
therefore can join a domain just like any other system running Pro.

Greetings --

Attempting to replace WinXP MCE with WinXP Pro would actually be a
"downgrade."

WinXP MCE is a "superset" of WinXP Pro that contains all of WinXP
Pro's features and capabilities plus added multimedia functionality,
so your IT department won't need to perform any modifications to the
OS to add the laptop to a domain.
