Hello!
i am experimenting difficulties with my upgrade of avid editing...
1/everytime i open my avid xpress prohd i see that nasty window:
"your current powerscheme toshiba power management may not be optimal for
best performances on the avid editor.capture and digital cut among other
features may be compromised.for improved performence open the power options
control panel and choose the always on power scheme"

it appears everytime i open my avid xpresspro i can t get rid of it because
when i go to control panel/power options:comes a warning saying "to ajust
power manag.settings close microsoft pow options and use toshiba power
management".

the windows power options is not active and allow me to make any changes...

then when i go to toshiba power management i can t fine the "always on"
power scheme asked by avid but just "full power/normal/longlife...etc'"modes

2/now if i really can t fix the problem because i red that:"What XP MCE is
not good for is using it in an editing environment! " in an avid forum , i am
just gona change my OS and go to xp pro from the very beguining(buy the soft
in a store...) if it fix the problem it s better than loosing and loosing
days of not accomplished work...
now WILL MY LABTOP SPECIALY BUILDED FOR MEDIA CENTER ACCEPT TO BE FORMATTED
AND INSTALLED WITH XP PRO ???????
thanks if anyone could give a little help..

With the exception of some domain considerations which are not at issue in
your current situation, Media Center Edition of Windows *is* Windows XP Pro
with the Media Center components added. Until you choose to start Media
Center it looks and acts exactly the same and has the same feature set as
Windows XP Pro.

Your problem seems to be an issue between Toshiba's Power Management vs.
Windows Power Management. Toshiba's "Full Power" option should be the same
as Windows "Always On" in that no power management functions are implemented
in either case. Does your software *insist* on having the "Always On" scheme
set or simply suggest it. If the latter set it to Toshiba's "Full Power"
option and forget about the message.

If your software won't accept the "Full Power" option and insists on having
Windows manage power you'll have to consult Toshiba to see if their Power
Management software can be removed or bypassed leaving Windows in charge.

thanks Hilly! no the full power doesn t give me anything...i still have the
window saying my capture will be compromised.so i am resigned to spend
another 4 hours trying to reach toshiba for a vague sophist answer they ll
kind of give me.nobody seems to know if :WILL MY LABTOP
SPECIALY BUILDED FOR MEDIA CENTER ACCEPT TO BE FORMATTED
AND INSTALLED WITH XP PRO ???????
because window med cent is and IS NOT express pro !! because the added
component might interfer with some softwares like my Avid that doesn t want
to capture ...i am lost as i lost 8 days of work...just gona go tomorrow to
check to that mac store nextdoor ;) that faithfull thinking help me to
survive...
