Me to XP Home

Just completed an upgrade of Me to XP Home. Followed all the rules and cautions
re: drivers, etc. Updated with SP1 and then all the available later updates on
line. Everything works as it should with one exception...the USB Ports on the
MS Natural Pro Keyboard don't work. The Keyboard itself is connected to a USB
port and is fine, the other port is connected to a Canon S9000 and works the
way it should. Anyone have any ideas where to start troubleshooting this? And
please no glib "do a clean install" responses. I'm prepared to do that if
necessary, but I'd like to see if there's a simpler fix since the rest of the
system seems perfect.

TIA,
John

Hi John,

Assuming you have the most recent keyboard driver set from Microsoft for
that board (I use the same one and it works fine), try this:

You know, when people (like me) suggest a clean install, it isn't
"glib"; it's good advice based on the knowledge that sometimes putting
a completely different operating system "on top" of another one is not
A Good Thing and in computing, the simplest and cleanest approach is
usually best. That said, I'd suggest you check on the Natural Pro's
website for updated drivers for XP, and/or look for information in
their tech support area(s).

Thanks for the suggestions. While I understand your clean install point, you
must admit that there are a number of people here whose 1st suggestion for any
problem with an upgrade is "ya' shudda done a clean install, ya' freakin'
dummy".
That's what I didn't want...I agree with what you've said here and at other
times.

Thanks,
John

I recently did an upgrade and had a similar problem as both my keyboard and
mouse were connected to USB , what I did was borrow a PS2 keyboard and mouse
and connected those instead , after that I did a system restore and when
everything was working again changed the keyboard and mouse back to the
original usb .
I have had no further problems

Regards Frances
