Assuming you performed an upgrade, as opposed to a clean installation, do a
search for the file extension (.doc, .xls, .ppt, .wks, .pub, .mix, whatever
they might be) - make sure you choose to 'search hidden files and folders'.
If that comes up blank, then you probably performed a clean installation.
This is painful. Where are your backups?
EVERY tech that has done anything with software on any
computer I used in past 20 years says backup stuff before
doing any work on software.
They're there, but notwhere you left them. Didja check out the
"documents and settings" folder, which has sub-folders for every user?
Each user sub-folder should have a "my documents" sub-sub-folder,
which should hold -- you guessed it!
