An mdb won't help because it's limited to 2 GB. And you would need the mdf
running under some kind of SQL Server for Access to be able to extract any
data.

Maybe it's worth buying a copy of SQL Server Developer Edition, which cost
about $50 last time I looked? That version is licensed for development, but
has all the features of the Enterprise Edition. It's limited to a single
connection at a time, but it would let you work with your 11GB mdf. All SQL
2005 versions except the free Express version have unlimited db size.

You could also download an evaluation versin of SQL Server and use that to
access your data. Although I ery much doubt that access can handle data of
that size
