MDAC versus Jet engine

I'm a bit confused. I read that versions of MDAC after 2.6 do not include
the Jet Engine.

If I create software that uses access database files (.mdb) is MDAC all my
customers need, or do they need Jet Engine also?

To simplify, lets assume that the Customer's machine has no software except
the Operating System (XP or 2000) installed.

If the OS is Windows 2000/XP, Jet is installed with the OS.

As Paul says, those OS include Jet. However, you may still need to install
the Jet SP to ensure your clients are all using the same version as you.
MDAC does not update anything to do with Jet anymore.
