MDAC Install Error

I am getting the following error on 4 of our Windows 2000
machines when trying to install the latest security
patches for SP3.

"An error occurred while setup was trying to verify the
version of MDAC's currently installed.

Either the version currently installed does not match the
version of this hotfix package or setup was unable to
determine the version currently installed."

This error is happening when I try to install MS03-033,
Q823718.

Any help would really be appreciated.

My suggestion is that you download Version 2.8 of MDAC (which is not
vulnerable) and install it. To download it go here:

If you want to check what Version of MDAC is installed, then you can get the
"MDAC Utility: Component Checker" from here:
